Position: Offensive Guard
Size and Speed: Griffin is 6-foot-3 and 288 pounds. He has been clocked at 5.10 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
Favorite Schools: Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Arkansas, TCU, SMU, Missouri and Colorado have expressed interest in Griffin to date.
Skinny: The colleges don't usually make their way to Marlin, Texas in search of Jermany Griffin. But when they get there to look at teammates Matterial Richardson and D'Nerian Wrighter they can't help but notice the big guy along the offensive line.
"I thought he would start for us as a sophomore," Marlin coach Jerry Malone said. "He played on the junior varsity last year, but he worked hard and did for us last year. He's going to be a good one and some schools are seeing that already."
Texas A&M was one of the first schools to express interest in Griffin.
"A&M came by and kind of picked up on him before anyone else did," Malone said. "Then word kind of spread on him quickly and more and more schools have followed suit."
The Oklahoma coaching staff was sending co-defensive coordinator Brent Venables to Marlin today to visit with Malone.
"Oklahoma is coming by to take a good look at Jermany today as well as the other guys too. But I think they'll like what they see from him. Arkansas, Colorado, SMU and TCU have all requested film on them and will be involved in this mix for him."
Malone said Griffin planned to take in a couple of camps this summer.
"He is going to go to SMU's camp this summer. He's told me that one is for sure. I also think he is trying to get to TCU's one-day camp in June too to take a closer look at them."
