Grant talking to elite programs

Though the Rivals.com prospect rankings have not yet come out for Class of 2011 prospects, it's probably safe to say Akron (Ohio) St. Vincent-St. Mary cornerback Doran Grant will be listed among the top juniors in the Midwest down the road.
The 5-foot-10, 171-pound defensive back from the Buckeye State has an offer list that's a mile-long, and he has college coaches coming to visit him for events that would not otherwise be newsworthy.

"I'm just playing basketball, really. That's going pretty good. That and a little indoor track. I'm just a JV guy. I really play because my friends play and it's something to do on the side. Ohio State is coming to my JV game coming up," he laughed. "It's kind of weird. Then I'll be going down there on Sunday to watch their last practice before they go out to the Rose Bowl."
In addition to the Buckeyes, Grant has been in contact with Georgia, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Michigan State, Cincinnati and others. He has also received an offer and interest from Notre Dame, though he isn't sure where he stands on the Irish right now.
"They were one of my favorite schools and I've been there four times," he said. "Every time I went back it was always a good fit, even though they lost games I went to. They really haven't dropped at all. I need to talk to coach (Brian) Kelly and see what's going on. I've never talked to him before but I need to."
