Grant still solid on Clemson

Jamarcus Grant, the star two-way lineman for Mullins (S.C.) High, committed to Clemson this summer, but that hasn’t stopped other schools from giving him scholarship offers and calling him to see where he stands.
“I’m a Clemson commit firmly,” Grant said. “Coach Swinney [wide receivers coach Dabo] and the environment there really made it stand out and made me feel at home. It’s a small place, which is just right for me. I want to be able to know all the buildings around.

“I still get a lot of calls and I’ve gotten some more offers. South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and South Carolina State have all offered me.”
While official visits might be a last hope to try and sway the decision of the offensive and defensive tackle, Grant insisted he wasn’t interested in making many trips.
“I’m not going to take any official visits,” he said. “I may take a few unofficials to Clemson, but that will be it.”
A self-described “emotional” player, Grant said he feeds off pressure and the excitement of game-time.
“This being my last year, I know that I’m stepping into a whole different round next year, and you start to feel how every week you win or go home,” Grant said. “It’s like Ray Lewis [Baltimore Ravens linebacker]. The energy he brings, how he says you’re just not going to beat him where he lives, I just love all of it. I love how he always has his mind on the game.”
The excitement Grant brings to field has helped lead Mullins to a 6-3 record and the potential for multiple home games in the playoffs.
