Grant hoping options expand

A 6-foot-4, 265 pounds, 2015 offensive tackle Jake Grant knows his offer list will eventually grow. He'll be ready when it does, too.
Despite holding just one invite at the time, an offer from Utah, Grant has done his share of traveling. He's seen plenty of college campuses and his forming opinions. And while he waits for his options to expands, he'll keep exploring.

Grant is nothing if not prepared.
"This weekend I'm going to discuss visits with my dad," Grant said. "I'm leaning toward Michigan State and some Pac 12 visits. I've been real interested in Michigan State and they are real interested in me. They were one of the first schools to start recruitment me.
"I've already been to four Pac 12 schools, but now I want to check out the Pac 12 northern region, like Oregon and the Washington and maybe California."
Ask Grant which schools could be the closest to offering him a scholarship and the answer is abstract. The subject is a hard one to discuss because it involves so much raw speculation. After reflection, Grant goes with the three schools that stopped in to his school during the season.
"I'd say the ones that came out to see me," grant said. "That was as Cal, Oregon and Nebraska. I think they are pretty close. Obviously, I hope all three offer soon."
Utah coaches were also in to see Grant during the last contact period. And while an offer has been on the table for some time now, the Utes staff has not slowed its recruitment of the Phoenix-based junior.
"There's a lot of Facebook and a lot of talking on the phone with coaches," Grant said. "They just keep tabs on me. They ask how my conditioning is going and how my holidays were. I appreciate that stuff."
Grant attends Scottsdale (Ariz.) Horizon High School and has seen wide-ranging interest since the onset of his junior season.
