Gophers on verge of landing Pitt commit

Columbus (Ohio) Brookhaven defensive back Dominic Jones committed to Pitt during the summer. But with Walt Harris' departure for Stanford, it appears Jones will commit to Minnesota, perhaps as soon as tonight.
"I'm not committed to Pitt anymore," Jones said. "I'm probably going to Minnesota. I might announce a decision (today).

"I visited Minnesota last weekend. The most intriquing thing about it was the people. It was like being at home. They have 15 guys on their roster from Ohio. They have like six guys from the Columbus City League.
"Coach Mason and coach Browning are coming to my house (tonight)."
The 5-foot-8, 177 pound Jones intercepted nine passes as Brookhaven won all 15 of it's games in route to a state championship. He set a school record with 28 interceptions.
