Gooden still looking around

Hooks, Texas linebacker Gerald Gooden has been committed to UTEP since this past summer, but he took an official visit to a Big Ten school this past weekend. Now, a final decision is set for the end of this week.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder took a trip to check out Purdue this past weekend. Gooden maintains he's still committed to the Miners, but the trip has definitely has given him something to think about.

In fact, he's leaning towards making a new commitment.
"UTEP is still in the running, but I visited Purdue and I'm looking at them strongly now," Gooden said. "I think in the end, it's going to come down to Purdue or UTEP.
"I'm going to make my final decision this Friday."
Gooden said there was a lot to like about the Boilermakers.
"It's a Big Ten school, which is a good thing," Gooden said. "I think there is a great chance to get drafter out of there. Plus, they have a good academic program so I'd be challenged academically and on the football field."
The Miners are definitely still in the thick of things.
"It's a nice school," Gooden said about UTEP. "They've got really nice dorms and facilities. I like the coaching staff a lot too. At UTEP, I'd also have a chance to play early."
