ORLANDO, Fla. - It has been an eventful December for Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage senior running back Jeremy Gaskins. The 5-foot-10, 189-pound running back landed his first offer and then just a few days later earned a state championship when the Stallions defeated Madison (Fla.) Madison County 30-3.
"It feels really great," Gaskins said of the victory.
It was a goal he and his teammates started working towards last season when they fell short in the state championship game.
"We started at the beginning of the season working towards this," Gaskins said. "It was always in the back of our mind. We just knew we had to do it after last year."
As for that offer, that also left him searching for words.
"I got my first offer recently," Gaskins said. "It came from FAU. I was wordless when I got it."
The South Florida prospect has previously made the short jaunt to Florida Atlantic's campus to check out the Owls.
"It is a really good school," Gaskins said. "It is a great opportunity. There are a lot of good things about it."
In addition to the offer from Florida Atlantic, Gaskins says that Cincinnati, Florida International, and Syracuse have also shown interest.
As a senior, Gaskins rushed for 1,276 yards and 12 touchdowns on 141 carries.
