Hollywood (Fla.) Hollywood Hills inside linebacker Griffin Goins had been waiting for that first offer to come his way. The long wait ended on Tuesday.
"I got my first offer," Goins said. "It was from the University of Cincinnati."

The 6-foot-1, 235-pound defender was glad that he finally broke through and landed that first tender.
"I was surprised by it," Goins said. "It made me happy with the situation. Hopefully I will land more offers. Hopefully it opens up more doors for me in the future."
Goins was able to speak with a member of Butch Jones staff about the offer.
"I talked with Coach (John) Jancek," Goins said. "He said that he liked the way I look and the way I move. He said I definitely would fit their defense. They like me as a linebacker, a middle linebacker. He was a real good guy. He sounded really confident in what he said."
At this point in the process, the Sunshine State prospect says he has to learn more about the Bearcats.
"I don't know much about them," Goins said. "I have seen them play a couple of times. I am going to be doing a lot of research on them. So I will be finding out more information about them."
At this time, Goins hasn't made plans to trip to Cincinnati.
He also reported significant interest from Minnesota and said numerous other schools are still evaluating him.
In addition to contributing as a linebacker, Goins is also a standout fullback prospect.
