Goethel is back from ASU

Vista (Calif.) linebacker Travis Goethel took his third official visit this past weekend to check out Arizona State. The talented athlete said the visit to Tempe was his best visit so far and he has two schools at the top of his list right now.
Goethel, 6-3, 220 pounds has already visited Utah and Washington and spent this past weekend in Tempe checking out the Sun Devils.

"I had a great time, even though I was kind of sick all weekend," Goethel said. "The facilities are the best I've seen, I like the coaches a lot and I got along really well with all the players. I just had a really nice time and I can't think of anything I would have wanted to change about it other than just not being sick.
"They have a young coaching staff and that's cool and I also like their depth chart. I was told that they only have about five linebackers returning so a few incoming recruits are going to have to play. They told me I could play any of the three linebacker positions so that's a big plus too."
Goethel is still scheduled to take an official visit to USC this coming weekend but isn't sure he'll make that visit.
"They called me on Friday before I left for ASU to tell me they still like me and want me to visit," Goethel said. "The thing is, they haven't offered yet and I don't know for sure if they're going to. I don't want to run in to a situation where I keep these schools waiting for me and then take my visit to USC and have those other schools give my scholarship to someone else. If USC doesn't offer on the visit, I don't want to be left holding nothing.
"So I'm not sure what I'm going to do. If they were to offer me before the visit, I would probably trip there for sure but if they don't offer, I don't think I'll take it. I just don't want to risk it."
Goethel said he has home visits with ASU and Washington on Monday.
"Utah is still in there too but I'm leaning to ASU and Washington right now," Goethel said. "It's too close to call between those two but those are my favorites. I like Utah as well and I'm sure they're going to be coming over for a home visit this week too. If I don't visit USC, I should be able to make a decision by the end of the week."
