Givens tops 20 offers

Rivals250 cornerback Darrell Givens out of Indian Head (Md.) Lackey has picked up two more big-time offers. The latest scholarships for the 5-foot-11, 174-pounder come from the Big 12 and Big Ten and push his total to approximately 20.
"I got offered by Nebraska and Michigan," he said. "I picked those up on Friday. I called the coaches at Nebraska for 20 minutes. He updated me on the tradition there and how the whole defensive staff came from LSU which has been in the top three the past few years. That was big for me to hear.

"I haven't talked to the coaches at Michigan yet. I don't know a lot about them. They are a winning program and hopefully if I went there I could play early."
Givens is busy taking trips right now.
"I'm going to Ohio State this weekend," he said. "I was supposed to go to Florida last week, but I didn't go. After this weekend's trip, I'm going to the Maryland spring game on April 26th."
The four-star prospect will also attend the Nike Camp at Penn State on May 10th and the Elite College Combine in May.
One other school has verbally offered Givens, but he has yet to receive the paperwork.
"Georgia informed me that they have offered," he said. "I know Coach Ball because he recruited my uncle, Nekos Brown for Virginia Tech. I got to meet him when I was younger and he showed him a lot of love. He appears to be showing me that same love. That could give Georgia a bit of an advantage with those ties."
The May evaluation process just started on Wednesday and Givens hasn't received a call yet.
"A lot of the coaches are telling me they are coming the first week of May," he said. "I'm excited for everyone to come."
