Gipson is one to watch

Richardson (Texas) Berkner defensive end/outside linebacker Trevis Gipson is hard to miss on the field. He is an intimidating presence on the outside standing 6-foot-5, 200-pounds with 7-foot wingspan.
In 2013, Gipson spent most of his time at outside linebacker after playing defensive end as a sophomore, and like most defenders he likes getting into the offensive backfield.

"I feel more comfortable when my coach sends me on stunts," Gipson said. "Like outside rushing and things because it gives me a shot to come in full speed. I used to play defensive end last year so I'm real good with my hands like swim moves or rip through or just using my length to my advantage to block passes."
The transition from defensive end to linebacker can be a tough one, but Gipson felt in his case the move better fit his abilities.
"I feel like I moved into it comfortably because I have a motor and when I get going I come downhill," Gipson said. "That's why sometimes I'll over run plays here and there but I'm coming full speed. Then when they put me in a position to not have deal with 300-pound linemen I can just come downhill and it's just me and the running back and with my length I can adjust."
College coaches have taken notice of the defender with Oklahoma, Kansas State, Baylor, Ole Miss, and Texas Tech each communicating with him, and he attended Oklahoma's match-up with Iowa State on his first unofficial visit.
"It was pretty cool. The coaches were cool," Gipson said. "It was my first visit. I could've taken more but I've been busy. So I got a chance to get up there and the environment was nice, but I can't really compare it because it was my first one."
Gipson has attended college games before though. His brother, Thomas Gipson, is currently a member of Kansas State basketball team and was a highly sought after basketball prospect out of Cedar Hill, Texas.
Trevis Gipson also plays basketball, and is currently a member of Berkner's basketball squad where he is a small forward and a power forward. However, he does feel he is better at one over the other.
"I do both but I personally I feel like I'm better at football," Gipson said.
Since the end of football season, basketball has kept him busy and he has not taken or planned any other unofficial visits.
