Gilchrist picks Huskies

After several visits to Washington and a quick tour of other West Coast programs this past offseason, four-star cornerback Isaiah Gilchrist got a good idea of where each school stood heading into the fall.

On Saturday afternoon, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound prospect from Bellevue, Wash., saw enough at Husky Stadium and ended his recruitment, committing to Washington over numerous other Pac-12 schools that had offered.

RIVALS' REACTION: Gilchrist is the fifth Washington native to pledge to the Huskies in the 2016 class, becoming the latest example of what Chris Petersen has talked about accomplishing since he arrived in Seattle from Boise State. The cornerback stopped by Arizona, Arizona State, California, UCLA and USC in the spring and those trips were important because he always intended to decide before the end of his senior season. Gilchrist also added an offer from Oregon a couple months ago, but staying home turned out to be too much to turn down as the Huskies maintained some good momentum within their borders.
