Gilbert is a solid junior OL prospect

Junior offensive lineman Nick Gilbert out of Nedrow (N.Y.) Onondaga Central is a tough prospect that plays incredibly well for his size according to Onondaga Central head coach Bill Spicer. The 6-foot-2, 246-pounder stepped up even more this season.
"He grades out at 95% or above in every game we played this year," he said. "The thing about him is his size, but he pushes people off the line of scrimmage and his technique is very sound.

"Over the past year he's gotten a lot stronger and faster. We lost in the conference championship and he's already working himself hard for next year which is really admirable."
This season Gilbert was named second team all-county.
In recruiting the offensive line prospect has received interest from his uncle, offensive line coach Joe Gilbert and Central Florida along with Syracuse and Boston College.
Another 2007 prospect to keep an eye on from Onondaga Central is linebacker Kyle O'Laughlin. Spicer definitely thinks his 6-foot-0, 185-pounder can play in Division I-AA and perhaps Division I.
"If he bulks up and has another good year like he did this season someone will give him a shot," he said. "I think the problem is just a matter of his size, but he is a player for it."
This season O'Laughlin recorded 137 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions as he was named first team all-county. He also added 508 yards rushing and five touchdowns at fullback.
"He's tenacious and wherever the ball is he's there," Spicer said. "He's a hard-nosed football player and I could easily see him bulk up to 220-pounds."
