Gibbs ready to set up visits

Vicksburg, Miss., tight end/defensive end Sean Gibbs may not grab the number of headlines in the Magnolia State that some prospects do, but make no mistake about it, he is one of the top prospects in the state.
“I don’t really have any new offers, pretty much the same ones that I have had in the past,” Gibbs said. “One school that has not offered yet, but is really starting to recruit me hard is West Virginia. I think they may offer me pretty soon.”

At the NIKE camp Gibbs measured in a 6-foot-1.5 and 233 pounds He did 12 reps on the bench press, had a 29-inch vertical jump and ran the shuttle in 4.43 seconds.
“I went to the Mississippi State-Auburn game earlier this year and this past weekend I went to the Ole Miss-Tennessee game,” Gibbs said. “I have been waiting for Southern Miss to have a Saturday home game so I can go there, but they play so many games on Thursday’s I haven’t been able to get there yet.”
A starter since the tenth grade, Gibbs recorded 15 catches for 385 yards as a junior, and was named to the all-county and honorable mention all-district teams as a tight end. Also a star on the baseball team, the right hander boasts a fastball in the upper eighties, along with a good curve and changeup, and batted .300 with two homeruns and 28 RBI as a sophomore.
“Right now my top two schools are Southern Miss and Ole Miss,” Gibbs said. “After that it would be Auburn, Florida, Memphis and West Virginia. After this weekend’s visit Ole Miss is tied with Southern Miss. Florida is recruiting me hard, but they haven’t offered yet.”
He is ranked as the No. 18 prospect in the state of Mississippi. Through his first three games of the season he has 75 yards rushing and 170 yards receiving for two touchdowns.
“I set up an official visit with Memphis in January, but I can’t remember what weekend it was right now,” Gibbs said. “I’m still trying to set up visits with my other favorites.”
