Giannini thrilled to be a Gopher

"I was going to visit Ohio University this weekend," kicker Jason Giannini said. "But Minnesota called on Friday and offered a scholarship. I committed on the spot."
"So I flew to Minnesota for an official visit. I want to play in the Big Ten. And I've heard a lot of good things about Minnesota. Coach Mason is a good guy. And I liked Minneapolis."

"I was looking at Youngstown State, Ohio, Bowling Green, a lot of MAC schools, and Pitt. But Minnesota was the one that offered."
The 5-foot-9 and 170 pound Giannini made 12 of 17 field goals during his senior season at North Canton (Ohio) Glen Oak. His two longest field goals both came from 49 yards out. Giannini also made 23 of 25 extra points and 37 of his 46 kickoffs went into the end zone.
