Georgia WRs stock on the rise

One of the Peach State’s rising prospects is Atlanta Westlake wide receiver/defensive back Emmanuel Spann.
Spann (5-11, 170, 4.5) is off to a great start as a senior, catching 20 passes for more than 500 yards and 12 touchdowns through five games.

“I’ve been getting a lot of yards after the catch,” he said. “I get a lot of short passes and have broken a bunch of them for touchdowns. We’ve got a bunch of good players, so nobody can really key on anyone.”
He has been considering offers from Louisville, Marshall and Middle Tennessee since late this summer, and is starting to draw a few more looks from other top programs in the South.
“Those three who have offered call me every week,” he said. “I’ve also talked with Duke, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Auburn, Ohio, Clemson, Cincinnati… there’s been a bunch.”
Spann has taken three unofficial visits – Georgia, Georgia Tech and Auburn. He visited the Plains this past weekend to see the Tigers dispatch Tennessee.
“They’ve got a real good atmosphere down there,” he said. “It’s a fun place to watch a game, and they’ve got real nice facilities. I was really impressed. It would be nice to get an offer from someone like them.”
Spann said he doesn’t have a favorite at this point, but leans toward the schools who have made official offers. Louisville, Marshall and Kentucky are also recruiting three of his teammates – offensive linemen Courtney Abbott and Michael Brown and linebacker Alfred Williams.
“We were talking about that today, how it would be fun to all go to the same school and stick together for another four or five years,” Spann said. “We’re hoping to get a chance to do that, but no one has given all four of us an offer so far.”
He added that Duke, Louisville, Kentucky and Marshall are vying for four of his five official visits. The other is still up for grabs at this point.
Academically, Spann maintains a 3.1 GPA and has scored an 820 on the SAT.
