Georgia WR/TE a rising star

One of the most intriguing prospects in Georgia this spring is Adairsville standout Tarvis Scott.
At 6-foot-5, 205 pounds and a 4.6 time in the 40-yard dash, Scott fits the mold of the “big receiver” that every program is seeking. But he is also still growing and features an aggressive mindset that his coach could see translating to the tight end position.

“He’s a kid who has played both positions for us,” Adairsville coach Johnny Gulledge said. “He does a great job at wide receiver, and a lot of college coaches love those big receivers nowadays, but he’s got the bulk and the mentality to play tight end. The kid loves to block. He came to me several times last year and asked me to play tight end. When we stuck him in there, he did a great job.
“It really wouldn’t surprise me if he wound up a tight end in college the way he’s growing. If he puts on 30 pounds, he’d be a man at that position. You’d have a player with great size, good speed and soft hands. He’s just an all-around athlete. He also won the state championship in the high jump last year, so that gives you an idea of his athleticism.”
Scott helped lead Adairsville to a 9-3 record and the second round of the Class 2A playoffs as a junior.
He’s yet to receive his first official scholarship offer, but his receiving regular correspondence from schools such as Georgia, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Nebraska and Wisconsin.
“He gets stuff from all over,” Gulledge said. “He’ll be heavily recruited next season, no doubt about it.
“He’s going back to the Georgia Tech combine this year, and he’s been invited to the Nike camp. We’re going to Tennessee this weekend for their sprint clinic. I know that’s one of the schools he really likes. If they get involved and wind up offering, I think they would be hard to beat.”
