Sarver helped lead Collins Hill High School to the Class 5A state
semifinals as a junior.
This season, he's eager to
get the Eagles back to the Georgia Dome while assuming a bigger role in the
offensive attack.
"We didn't really throw the ball
that much last year," said Sarver, who had eight receptions for 129 yards and
two touchdowns. "We had a run-oriented offense and used four different
quarterbacks, so we never really got our passing game going. But we graduated
two good running backs and we should be throwing the ball a lot more. I'm
looking forward to that."
Ironically, Sarver finished with more rushing attempts
and yardage (20-218) as a junior, and spent most of his time blocking for the
Eagles' strong rushing attack.
College scouts, however, see the potential at wide
receiver. The 6-1, 187-pound Sarver runs a 4.5 forty, has a 260 bench press and
combines good route running with soft hands. He took part in the Nike Camp
earlier this summer at Georgia.
"I've been hearing a lot from East Carolina," he said.
"They've recruited me more than anyone. I have a visit coming up there this
weekend. I'm looking forward to meeting the coaches and seeing the campus. I
know they have a good program and a nice offense."
Sarver also lists Georgia, Georgia Tech, Maryland and
Wofford among the top teams showing interest. He's getting the most looks from
I-AA now, but hopes that will change with a big senior season.
"I just want to play my hardest and show what I can do,"
he said. "I want to go out and improve every game and help get us back to the
Dome."
