Joseph Gartrell has a
long-awaited offer from Georgia and a star teammate headed to Athens, but he
cautions recruiting observers to read too much into those details.
"People are probably looking for me to go to Georgia
now with Kregg (Lumpkin)," he said. "But I'm still looking for what the best
situation is for me personally. Me and Kregg and Reggie (Ball) all talked
before this season and agreed that we need to do the best thing for us as
individuals, not to get all caught up in going to the same place."
That's not to say it still won't happen. Gartrell
lists Georgia atop his current list on equal footing with Florida and South
Carolina.
"They've all got something about them I really
like," he said. "With Georgia, it's the tradition and being close to home.
With Florida, it's the great atmosphere. It's just a great place to play,
especially for receivers. With South Carolina, I'm impressed with their
overall program and coaching."
Gartrell (6-2, 180, 4.4) has made game trips to
Miami-Florida and New Mexico State-Georgia. He also plans trips to Auburn
and Florida in the near future. His six offers include Georgia, Auburn, LSU,
South Carolina, Marshall and Penn State.
A member of the Rivals.com
Georgia Top 50 team andone of the nation's top-rated
wide receivers, Gartrell caught 31 passes for 711 yards and
nine touchdowns as a junior. He's caught 10 passes, two for touchdowns,
through five games as a senior.
