Georgia WR commits to Badgers

Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake wide receiver Emmanuel Spann has pulled the trigger on his college decision.
And it was a move that may have surprised even himself a week ago.

“I made a commitment to Wisconsin last night after visiting up there last weekend,” he said. “With it being so far away, I went up there not really sure of things. I got off the plane and it was 7 degrees, and I was wondering ‘What am I doing up here in Wisconsin?’
“But the visit went better than I ever could have imagined. The players and coaches made me feel real comfortable there. I hung out with Brandon White and Lee Evans and Brandon Williams. They made me feel like I was already part of the team, not a recruit. Everything was just perfect – the people, the school, the facilities.”
“I’ll get used to the cold,” he added with a laugh.
Spann (5-11, 170, 4.5) also has official visits set for Duke (1/16) and Marshall (1/23). Clemson and Louisville are also vying for a visit.
“I’ll probably still take those just to be sure of things,” he said. “But I’m real happy with my decision to commit to Wisconsin. It’s a good fit for me, both for football and my education. I liked the people in their business department. My mom was real impressed by the support they have for athletes.”
As a senior, Spann caught 55 passes for 1,329 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also had 329 yards via rushing and returns, and scored three times on special teams.
