Junior to Watch: Tyler Davis
School: Duluth (Ga.) High School
Position: Wide Receiver
Size and speed: Davis is 6-foot-1, 175 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds.
Statistics: As a junior, he caught 47 passes for 568 yards and four touchdowns.
Honors: Was selected all-conference by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and all-county by the Gwinnett TD Club.
Favorite Schools: Virginia, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Colorado, Duke.
Skinny: Davis brings the full package as a student-athlete, getting it down both on and off the field.
He’s an all-conference performer on the field and has already qualified with a 3.85 GPA and 1070 on his SAT.
“I’m looking for a good school for football and academics,” he said. “They’re both important to me.”
Davis’ father, Jamie, played for Virginia in the early 70s.
“I’ve always been a big UVA fan,” he said. “I’d love to play for the Cavaliers. If they offered me a scholarship, I’d have to take it. I like the in-state schools, too. I’m interested in Georgia and Georgia Tech.”
He’s currently receiving letters from Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Colorado, Memphis, Duke, Harvard, Princeton and Dartmouth.
Davis plans to camp at Auburn and Duke this summer.
