Score one for Georgia Tech landing 2023 receiver Zion Taylor on Friday. The Norcross three-star talent becomes the third commitment to the Yellow Jackets class.

Taylor spoke about his longtime draw to Georgia Tech.

“I have always been close with Tech – they are my hometown school,” Taylor said. I went to a camp there; they loved how I played and offered me. I took an unofficial and then took an official there last weekend.”

That unofficial visit made a lasting impression.

“I started leaning towards Tech after my first unofficial visit,” Taylor shared. “It was nice, and in a great environment downtown. They treated me like family and welcomed me in. They will make me a better player and person. They really take care of their players.”

The time spent with the players during his official helped close the deal.

“I arrived on Friday afternoon, checked into the hotel and from there we went to Tech,” Taylor stated. “We went out to eat and after that we took some pictures. I went out with DJ Moore, we chilled and played Madden.

“Tech was already a top school, I was already leaning towards them, the official made me fall in love with them more seeing how they treat their players, the environment, and seeing that everyone is trying to get better every day. That is what I want, I want to compete.”

Receivers coach Del Alexander and offensive coordinator Chip Long already have a plan for Taylor.

“I talked to coach Del, they think I will play slot and combo outside,” Taylor said. “They see me as an explosive receiver, that’s why they can use me in multiple ways.”

Taylor shared what it feels like to be committed to the Yellow Jackets.

“It feels great,” Taylor stated. “A lot of hard work and dedication has been put into it – camps, games, hard work, and long nights. It feels good that it has paid off, but I’m not done yet.”
