Georgia tackle makes his decision

In the latter part of spring, the first scholarship offer came for the giant 6-foot-5, 330-pound Sandersville (Ga.) Washington County offensive tackle Lance Helton. Months later here in the fall, the sleeper prospect made his college decision for the team that discovered him first.
Ball State jumped out ahead of Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Memphis, Georgia Tech, and others with a scholarship. After taking an official visit there on Oct. 14, it was all he needed to jump on the offer.

"I actually did it last Tuesday," Helton said. "I just like it there. I went up there for an official visit and loved the whole place, the atmosphere, and I know I can player early to make something special out of that program."
Helton says that it would take something very "special" to come along for him to change his commitment.
"I'm not going to change this unless something incredible comes along," he said. "As of know I'm very solid on my commitment and I plan on being there. I really like this place."
Helton and his team start the playoffs this week and are looking to make quite a run.
"We're going up against some teams who have real good athletes just like us," Helton said. "This will probably be one of the toughest games in all classifications. I think our chances are really good."
