Georgia sleeper has first offer

Marietta (Ga.) Walton linebacker Andrew McGinn has gone virtually unmentioned this recruiting season, but he is squarely on the radar of several college programs.
“I have an offer from North Carolina,” McGinn said. “Clemson, Vanderbilt and Connecticut are also recruiting me. I have really only gotten interest from the schools that I have been to camp to.”

McGinn has the opportunity to raise his stock dramatically during his senior season, especially considering he has been offered at a position that he has played little of.
“I really didn’t play too much defense,” McGinn said. “I only played about three full games on defense this past year. I pretty much just played on offense as a junior and rotated in a little bit on defense. I play guard on offense.”
McGinn attended the NIKE camp in Atlanta, where he measured in at 6-foot-2, 222 pounds and turned in a 4.72 second 40-yard dash time. He also had a 4.52 second shuttle, a 27-inch vertical jump and did 19 reps on the bench press.
“I’m really looking for a school where I can come in and play,” McGinn said. “One of the main things that I am concentrating on is getting a good education. I am being recruited as a linebacker, tight end and defensive end. I don’t mind playing any of them really.”
In addition to the NIKE camp, McGinn has attended camps at Clemson, North Carolina and Connecticut this summer. He has a 335-pound bench press, a 400-pound squat and a 295-pound squat.
