Nicos Chavis is a prospect to watch as the recruiting process
heads into the homestretch.
Chavis (6-1, 180, 4.5) is not rated as high as some
of his Peach State peers, but may be a nice addition late in the game, as
evidenced by the amount of attention he's currently receiving.
"Clemson and Georgia Tech have been calling a lot,"
Chavis said. "Georgia Tech has told me there's a good possibility that I'll
get a scholarship offer soon. Then and Georgia Southern have both told me
that. Clemson hasn't really given me that much indication, but they've asked
for two films here in the last month and mentioned me coming for an official
visit the last time they called, so I think I'm still on their list."
Chavis, who has offers from Delaware and South
Carolina State, said Clemson would jump to the top of his list if an offer
comes.
"I'm originally from South Carolina, and I've got a
lot of family down there," he said. "It would be a good place for me. I've
been to a lot of their games. I really like it there.
"But I like Georgia Tech, too. I don't want to write
them off or anything. It would be great to be able to play here near home."
Chavis, who could play either corner or safety,
picked off four passes and returned one for a touchdown during his senior
season at Lakeside.
