Roderick Rogers has another scholarship on the table and a new favorite
heading into his senior season.
"South Carolina is my top choice," said the 6-foot-2,
182-pound safety from Stone Mountain's Stephenson High School. "I like the
football atmosphere down there and the way their program is on the rise. It just
seems like a fun place to play right now. They've got a real good coaching
staff, and someone like Lou Holtz can help me improve and develop my game."
Rogers also has offers from LSU, Tulane, West Virginia
and Vanderbilt. He says Nick Saban's Tigers are a close second to the Gamecocks
right now, followed by Alabama, North Carolina, Vanderbilt and Arkansas in his
top six.
"A lot of the same things I like about South Carolina, I
like about LSU. It's just a great atmosphere for football, and I've been
impressed by the people down there. They've treated me real nice," he said.
As a junior, Rogers recorded 90 tackles and one
interception for Stephenson while earning a reputation as a "big play" man.
