Georgia's first to offer big-time in-state RB

MOULTRIE, Ga. — As long as Rush Propst is the head coach at Colquitt County, the Packers are going to win and produce talent. JJ Peterson is a national recruit and he is the top 2018 prospect there now, so who's next in line for Propst?

Running back Daijun Edwards could be that guy. The 5-foot-11, 195 pound rising sophomore has a chance to be special. Coach Propst and his staff rave about this talented running back and they talk about his quickness, his feel for the game, his power and his ability to be a game-changer on the next level.

One school has seen enough to offer Edwards and it appears they agree with those coaches in Moultrie about his talent. The offer came from his dream school.

"I have an offer from Georgia already and that is the school I grew up cheering for," said Edwards. "I have always liked their program and I have been up there before. I went up there for the Auburn game, it was loud and I loved the crowd.

"Georgia has always produced running backs and I love how they feature those guys. Todd Gurley is one of my favorite players and getting the offer from Georgia was exciting. Georgia was always my favorite school as a kid. I liked Florida State some too, but I like Georgia a lot and I know I will be back up there as soon as I can."

Edwards is hearing from Alabama, Auburn and a few other schools early on and his offer list will grow in the coming months. Colquitt County is talented at running back this season and they will rotate three backs in and out, but Edwards will make his share of plays and have his chance to shine.

His performance in 2016 was enough for offer No. 1 one to come during his freshman year.

"I knew the offers were going to come, but I was a little surprised. I kind of saw it coming from Georgia because I knew they liked me, so I was not shocked or anything when they offered.

"Having an offer from Georgia means a lot. Them being for is pretty special. They are in my home state, they are a school I have always liked and it feels good to know they like me enough to offer me."
