Georgia RB likes MTSU

One of the top sleeper running backs in the Peach State has had a successful season, helping his team to a 5-0 record. So what is Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek running back Phillip Hyde doing so successfully?
“I’m racking up big yards,” Hyde, a two-star back that is 5-foot-10 and 193 pounds, said. “I had 221 yards last week and I’ve been averaging 173 yards a game.”

Sandy Creek is simply loaded on offense, especially with top receiver recruit Calvin Johnson and star athlete Will Judson complimenting Hyde’s play-making ability. So how do you stop all three? You don’t.
“It’s kind of like pick your poison,” Hyde said. “If you put eight in the box to stop me, then we’ll throw over you. And if you leave six in the box, we’ll have Calvin beat you.”
Hyde said things on the recruiting front are going well. He’s already landed scholarship offers from Middle Tennessee and Memphis. He’s talking to coaches from Clemson, Georgia Tech, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Arkansas and Memphis on the phone regularly.
“I think I’m trying to set up official visits with Middle Tennessee and Arkansas,” he said. “I like Middle Tennessee because they’re featuring the running back more. We already have a running back up there, Kelvin German. I played behind him when he was here at Sandy Creek.”
Hyde has attended two Georgia Tech home games.
