Ware has picked up some new offers and increased attention since coaches
began making phone calls again at the beginning of the month.
"Clemson and Indiana have offered now," said the 6-foot-1, 205-pound back, "and
I also heard from Georgia, Mississippi State, UAB, North Carolina, Tulane,
Kentucky, Illinois and Middle Tennessee. There's been a bunch of calls I wasn't
here for, too. A few have called back trying to get me."
His new offers join previous ones from UAB, Illinois, Kentucky, North Carolina
and Tulane.
So who stands out at this juncture?
"I'm a Georgia man. Always have been," he said. "But they haven't offered yet,
so I'm trying to keep things open. I'm seeing a lot of good things from these
other schools."
His new top five consists of Georgia, North Carolina, Maryland, Florida and
Auburn, "but that's not final or anything."
For instance, he had planned to make an unofficial trip to South Carolina this
past weekend to take in the Gamecocks' game against the Bulldogs. He backed out
due to the inclement weather, but says his dad would like him to go back
sometime. "He's a big Lou Holtz fan," Ware said.
He plans to go to Georgia's game against Northwestern State this coming weekend.
Ware, a member of the
Rivals.com Georgia Top 50
team and one of the
top-rated running backs
in the nation, rushed for 1,200 yards as a junior. He got his senior season off
to a good start by rushing 25 times for 186 yards and one touchdown in the
season opener.
