Georgia RB Gino Appleberry looking hard at two out-of-state schools

ATLANTA — Recruiting is really starting to pick up for 2018 running back Gino Appleberry. He now has offers from FAU, Fresno State, Gardner Webb, Mercer, Rutgers, UAB, UT-Chattanooga and Western Kentucky. Syracuse is another school to know about. The Orange have been showing a lot of interest.

Out of his offers, a couple of schools have really grabbed his attention.

"FAU and Western Kentucky are schools I am really high on right now," said Appleberry. "One thing I have learned about FAU is, they let their players play early. They also play in Florida and I like it there. I do want to get down there to check them out.

"With Western Kentucky, they have been recruiting me very hard. They write me a lot, they show me a lot of attention and they are high on me. I got the offer not that long ago and they have been showing me the most love. I want to learn more about them."

He entered 2017 with a couple of offers, so with five or six new offers coming the last few weeks, Appleberry expects it to pick up even more in the next two months when college coaches get out on the road for the evaluation period.

Due to that, and the possibility of new offers coming in, he is not thinking about committing just yet.

"I just want to be patient and see how things go," said Appleberry. "I am not planning to commit this spring or this summer. I will probably wait until after the season to see who had offered, then make my decision.

"I know I like FAU and Western Kentucky right now, but I want to see what happens next. I just do not want to do anything too quick."

Appleberry is a strong running back out of Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake. He runs with good authority with his compact and low to the ground style. He is one who should add more offers in the near future.
