This year’s crop of quarterback in the state of Georgia is not as strong as in the past. In fact, some were whispering that there may not be a single Division I quarterback in the bunch. However, don’t tell that to Austell (Ga.) South Cobb signal-caller Kenny McKinley.
“I have offers from Duke, North Carolina, Southern Miss, Illinois, Eastern Kentucky and Wake Forest,” said McKinley. “Tennessee has called and they are close to offering. Georgia is recruiting me really hard as well.”
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound McKinley runs the 40-yard dash in 4.52 seconds, has a 205 pound bench press and 315 pound squat.
“Coach Bobo from Georgia called me and told me that they are looking at six quarterback’s nationwide and I am one of those six. They also came out to my school one day before spring training ever started and watched me throw around with a few of my teammates. Oklahoma and South Carolina were there that same day.”
As a junior he passed for 1,575 yards and 12 touchdowns while rushing for 400 yards and eight touchdowns.
“My top schools are North Carolina, Duke, Georgia, Tennessee and Wake Forest. I plan on camping at all five of those schools and maybe a couple more over the summer.”
McKinley was named to the all-county team in his junior campaign.
"I'm going to be looking at a lot of stuff when I make my decision. Finding a school that has my major is going to be an important factor. Also, how the team interacts with each other and how happy they seem to be at that school is something I will look at."
