Georgia QB nets first offer

Hutson Mason got some big news last night. He called up Iowa coach Rick Kaczenski and he informed the quarterback from Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter High School that he had his first scholarship offer.
"They offered," Mason said. "Iowa really liked my film and they are sending the papers in the mail. It's exciting.

"They run a pro-style offense that I like. I have not been there yet but the coaches seem like great guys that I could really develop a great relationship with. I won't to try and get up there as soon as possible. It also helps that one of my good friends (Iowa TE Brad Herman) plays there."
Mason has been to junior days at Alabama, Tennessee and East Carolina. Purdue and Virginia Tech are also pursuing him.
"Iowa is at the top of my list. I would say Tennessee is number two and then ECU. Everything will depend on who offers me."
Mason, 6-2 and 190 pounds, threw for 3,705 yards, 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions as a junior. He just missed the state record by five yards. He also played with one of the nation's top tight ends in Philip Lutzenkirchen. He is headed to Auburn.
"I'm going to miss everything about Philip. What a player he is. That guy caught everything and all I had to do with throw it up to him."
