Georgia QB a field general

Decatur (Ga.) Southwest Dekalb dual-threat quarterback Eric Ward has been playing quarterback since he was six years old.
And when you watch him in action, you can tell that he’s seasoned beyond his years and definitely a Peach State prospect to keep your eye on for the Class of 2005.

“I’m a field general,” Ward, who is 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, said. “I’ve been playing quarterback since I was six when I first picked up a football. I understand the position, and I understand the game. I know what is expected of me. I want to do whatever it takes for my team to be successful.”
And he did that quite a bit last year.
Ward threw for 1,280 yards and rushed for 313 yards as a junior. He totaled 13 touchdowns and was named honorable mention all-county.
At this point, he’s getting mail from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Auburn, LSU, Florida A&M, Florida, South Carolina and Mississippi State. He admits that he grew up a Georgia fan.
“I’m going to pick a school based up on the location and the degree that I can earn at the school,” Ward said.
He plans on attending the Nike Training Camp at Georgia Tech this spring.
