Georgia OL has high marks, first offer

Offensive linemen don’t often put up great statistics. But when you hear about an offensive lineman that grades out at around 90 percent in every game, you take notice. Just like the college coaches are beginning to take notice of Cadwell (Ga.) West Laurens offensive guard Garrett Cranford.
Cranford, who is 6-foot-3 and 285 pounds, has been timed at 5.15 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He also has a 290-pound bench press and can put up 185 pounds 25 times.

That sounds impressive indeed, but not as impressive as the amazing 90 percent rating that he earned in almost every game he played in as a junior. That mark helped him earn honorable mention all-region recognition.
“I’m a smart and physical player,” Cranford said.
Smart is an understatement.
Cranford has already reached a qualifying test score of 1010 in the SAT and is solid 3.4 grade-point average.
Taking those things into consideration, you can bet that academics will play into his college decision. And that’s where teams like Georgia, Boston College, Tennessee, Florida, Louisville and Mississippi State come into the picture.
With an offer already on the table from academically-sound Vanderbilt, Cranford said he is going to look at the school’s atmosphere and education quality when it comes time to make a decision.
