Georgia OL has four offers

Hephzibah (Ga.) offensive tackle Fred Roland has been keeping a high profile this spring and plans to make at least one more camp appearance during the summer.
“I’ve gone to camps at Auburn (Nike), Middle Tennessee and Georgia Tech,” he said. “I’ve learned a whole lot, had a lot of people give me a bunch of compliments. Several coaches said they’d be getting back in touch with me as soon as they could make calls again.”

The towering Roland (6-8, 305, 5.3) has four scholarship offers to date: Louisville, Vanderbilt, Duke and Middle Tennessee. He said he’s also receiving steady interest from Georgia, Georgia Tech and Clemson.
“I was just at Georgia Tech camp on the 14th,” he said. “Their coaches were great and I learned a lot from them. They haven’t offered, but kind of made me feel like one could be coming soon. Before I left, their coach called me back off the bus and said he’d be staying in touch with me and wanted me to remember them. He told me to keep working hard, and I’d be just what they were looking for.”
Roland said he liked the Georgia Tech campus and “the way it was right there in the center of Atlanta, in the middle of the city with a lot of stuff to do.”
His favorite school at the moment, however, is the rival Georgia Bulldogs.
“I’ve always been a fan of them,” he said. “I went for a visit earlier this month and was really impressed with everything. The campus is great and the facilities for football and academics were unbelievable. There’s a lot of support there for the athletes.”
Roland will go back to UGA in July for camp.
Duke is also a school Roland (3.2 GPA, 940 SAT) is seriously considering.
“They’ve got some of the best academics in the country and a great business school,” he said. “They’ve already made me an offer, and I’d probably have the opportunity to play pretty early. That’s something to think about.”
