Georgia offers in-state teammates

Georgia had a number of talented prospects on campus over the weekend, but the two we are focused on here play at the same school.

They are also play the same position.

And Georgia offered them both Saturday.

Warren Burrell has pulled in quite a few offers over the last month or so and after offering, the Bulldogs have his attention.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "Coach Kirby Smart said he really liked my length and that I can move well," said Burrell. "He wants me to come check them out again for a practice.

"I do have interest in them. I was really impressed by the visit. The facilities were crazy and coach Smart and coach Tucker seemed like very cool and down to earth people.

"Georgia recently started showing heavy interest over the last month."

Burrell is right around 6-feet tall and his partner in the Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett secondary is a little taller. Quinton Newsome has played safety and cornerback in high school and he has great length.

His recruitment has heated up in 2018 with offers from Auburn, California, Iowa State, Minnesota, Stanford and others rolling in.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "I have a lot of interest in Georgia because they're a big-time football program and have great coaching," said Newsome. "On the visit, I mainly spent time with coach Tucker and he talked to me about how I need to keep working because nothing comes easy in life. We socialized a lot and were getting to know each other.

"Me and my family spoke with coach Smart in his office for about 10 minutes and he was telling me about the coaching staff and telling me great things about the University of Georgia."

RIVALS REACTION: Neither prospect is close to making a decision. Neither even has a top list of schools yet, but Burrell is working on it. Look for both prospects to visit more schools this spring and inch closer to cutting their lists down. Burrell has been going through the recruiting process, so he is a little farther along, but things could change quickly for Newsome. Burrell is a true cornerback and Newsome is a versatile defensive back who Georgia knows can play cornerback or safety.
