Georgia offers in-state LB

Danny
Verdun got the words he was eager to hear following last weekend's camp

at Georgia.
"They offered me a scholarship," said the 6-foot-2,
230-pound linebacker from Thomson. "I'm real happy about that. (Camp) couldn't
have gone any better. It was perfect."
The Bulldogs are the first team to offer Verdun, who has
recorded 318 tackles, 30 tackles for loss and eight sacks during the last two
years at Thomson. It's an offer that may be hard to refuse for the longtime UGA
fan.
"I have a couple more places I wanted to go -- like this
weekend I'm going to be at Auburn's camp -- but may have to consider going ahead
and taking them up on it," Verdun said. "I've always loved Georgia. My whole
family loves Georgia."
But he maintains that his recruitment is still open.
"Auburn is still high on my list," he said. "I really
like the coaches that are recruiting me there and just the program in general.
I've been to a few games there and really liked it."
His current top five also includes Florida, Clemson and
Colorado. He camped at Gainesville and Clemson earlier this summer.
"I liked them. They were both nice, gave me something to
think about," he said. "Colorado is kind of a new team on my list. They're
showing me a whole lot of interest here lately. As a kid, I always watched their
games on TV and rooted for them. It always looked like a fun place to play."
