THIS LATEST: Trey Dean is a 2018 defensive back out of Hampton (Ga.) Dutchtown that has seen his offer list explode over the past six weeks. Over three dozen schools have offered the 6-foot-2, 182 pound junior and he is taking it all in stride.

"I am just going to continue to grind and work hard," said Dean. "I am enjoying the recruiting process and all of the offers are great, but I just want to keep working to show everyone I am one of the best.

"I want to be the top defensive back in the country, so I am grinding every day, working on speed and agility, trying to get stronger and working on my game at defensive back."

Dean is hearing a lot of positive from college coaches, but he knows he still has a lot of work to do to get where he wants to be.

"Coaches are telling me that they like my size at defensive back, that they see I have hands like a wide receiver, that I have great athleticism and that I can play corner or safety in college.

"Different schools like me for different things, but I am still working to be the best out there. My goal is to be the top defensive back in the country and that is what I am working for.

"I know there is still a lot of work that has to be done."

The four star is looking to make a college decision by summer and one could come before his junior year comes to an end. The Georgia Bulldogs, a school that is only about 75 miles from Dean's home is making a strong push and he was back in Athens (Ga.) for the second time this year Saturday.

The Peach State star likes what he sees and Kirby Smart's program has his attention.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "I was back at Georgia Saturday and I got to see the new facilities — they are great," said Dean. "I also got to meet the new defensive line coach (Tray Scott) and he is a cool guy.

"That was really it as far as what was new from when I visited Georgia earlier in the year. I had a good time with coach [Mel] Tucker (defensive backs), and I spent most of the day with him.

"I think coach Tucker is a great coach and a great guy. He knows how to coach, he is very smart, he works different schemes and he went over a lot of stuff with me.

"He thinks I would be a great fit at Georgia and I agree with him. Georgia is one of my top schools. I still have a long list right now, but I will be cutting it down some soon.

"Georgia brought in a lot of good defensive backs in the 2017 class, but that doesn't bother me. I love great competition because I know it will make me better.

"They are coming at me pretty hard right now telling me they love my versatility. They want to move me all around the field at defensive back and I like that a lot."

RIVALS REACTION: Dean is a defensive back with a great work ethic and the desire to be great. He is constantly working on his craft and coaches love how he is self driven and how he strives to be the best. He is set to be an early enrollee, so he wants to have his commitment behind him well before his senior year begins. He is eyeing three things when evaluating colleges; one is academics, two is the fit on campus and three is the defensive scheme he would play in. His number of offers is 37 at this time and he plans to slowly knock off schools and to eventually get his list to five before making his decision in the coming months. Expect Georgia to remain on this list to the end.
