Georgia leads for Irby

HAMPTON, Ga. - It's hard not to notice the 6-foot-5, 312-pound Gabe Irby and colleges are certainly not unaware of his abilities either.
The talented offensive tackle from Mount Airy (Ga.) Habersham Central is picking up interest from several schools in and out of his home state. Irby also says that he has one of the in-state schools in the early lead.

"I'm liking Georgia," Irby said. "It's close to home, about an hour from my house, and I like the program and the fact that I could come home and get a cooked meal every once in a while."
Other schools showing interest include Georgia Tech, Clemson, Maryland, LSU, Auburn, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and several others.
"I think Vanderbilt may offer soon," Irby said. "I haven't taken the SAT yet though, but I'm taking that the first of May. Vanderbilt has been text messaging me though and they seem interested."
Coming up, Irby says he'll head to Georgia for their spring game and then he also plans to make stops at Georgia Tech and Clemson. Aside from recruiting, he's also working hard to make sure his team is successful in the 2007 season.
"I would really like to win state," he said. "Our team has been improving every year and I just want to continue to improve with my teammates."
