Georgia LB with six offers

Dareon Mays is a linebacker prospect from the Peach State. Mays, 6-0 and 220 pounds, is from McDonough Union Grove high school and he's now sitting on six scholarship offers.
"UAB was the first to offer me," Mays said. "Western Carolina was the latest. Kent State, Western Kentucky, South Alabama, and North Carolina A&T have also offered me. Right now I am pretty open with all of them. I mean they are all even and I am just open."

This summer Mays had a chance to visit UAB (twice) and Western Kentucky. He liked what he saw at both schools.
"I really did. They are two great schools with building programs. Western Kentucky is entering the Sun Belt Conference. Big things are in store for that program. UAB is in Conference USA. They have so much promise. Both schools really want me to be a big part of their programs."
In addition to the schools that have offered him Mays says some bigger named programs are keeping a close eye on him this fall.
"I am hearing from Auburn and coach (Ted) Roof said they want to see what I do in the first few games. My head coach also said teams like Wisconsin and N.C. State will be watching."
Union Grove opens up their 2009 season against Vigor High School from Alabama a week from this Friday.
"Practice is going good and our first game is next Friday. We play Vigor and the juices are flowing. We are very excited to play them. It should be a great game."
