Verdun was closing in on a commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs, an SEC
rival has made recruiting process trickier.
"Things just got a little bit more cloudy," said Verdun, who was offered a
scholarship by Auburn this past week. "I really like both of these schools a
lot, and I'm not sure I want to rush into it and make a commitment that I'd wind
up regretting.
"I think I'm going to slow things down and see what happens. I'd like to go on
some visits and see how things look."
Verdun is also being heavily recruited by Florida, Tennessee, Clemson and
Colorado.
The 6-foot-2, 230-pound Verdun is one of the South's top inside
linebacker prospects. He possesses 4.6 speed, bench presses 365 pounds and
squats 595. During his sophomore and junior seasons, he's recorded 318 tackles,
30 tackles for loss and eight sacks.
He's also solid in the classroom,
boasting a 3.7 GPA.
