Georgia LB is a hard worker

Newnan, Ga. is establishing itself as one of the top prospect producing schools in the Peach State and guys like linebacker Santez Mays are the reason why. He had a good showing at the Atlanta NIKE camp and had a solid junior season and that has already garnered him two scholarship offers.
“I have offers from Ball State and Jacksonville State,” Mays said. “Minnesota, UAB and Tulane have all told me that once I pass this summer school class that I’m taking I will have an offer from them. I got calls from a lot of other schools too like Southern Miss, Tennessee, Memphis, Alabama State and Alabama.”

Mays checked in at 5-foot-11.5 and 235 pounds at the Atlanta NIKE camp. He ran a 4.88 second 40-yard dash and a 4.66 second shuttle.
“I am eligible to play in the fall and all, so I didn’t fail a class,” Mays said. “I am having to take Geometry so that I can meet the Clearinghouse requirements for college. This way I won’t have to go to prep school or anything for a year.”
Mays is known in Georgia as the guy who scored the winning touchdown against Parkview to finally put an end to string of championships. He picked up a fumble and returned it 68 yards in the final minutes of the game.
“I’m going to be looking for early playing time, because I don’t want to sit the bench for four years,” Mays said. “I will be looking at facilities too. I just want to take my official visits in the fall and see what all of these schools have to offer.”
As a junior he posted 98 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, nine sacks and recovered two fumbles.
He will take an unofficial visit to Ball State on July 30-31 and is planning to attend camp at UAB this summer.
