Georgia lands four-star wide receiver

Ole Miss was in it right up until it wasn’t.

It’s difficult to summarize every bit of driving force behind Elijah Moore’s Tuesday commitment to Georgia, but the fact that fellow finalist Ole Miss dismissed its head coach while Moore was on his way to campus for a recruiting visit certainly helped.

“Coach [Hugh] Freeze [being fired], I had a little trouble with it at first. It threw me off guard because I was, like, an hour away from there for my visit," Moore said a week ago. "But, you know, things like this happen. The visit was good. They acted like nothing happened."

Still, the factors are many. And all Bulldog fans will care about is the fact that the four-star wide receiver’s name now appears on their commitment list. The announcement came via tweet.

Moore narrowed his list to Ohio State, Ole Miss, UGA and Miami before choosing the Bulldogs on Tuesday, but it was unclear how hard the Buckeyes and Hurricanes pushed for his pledge down the stretch.

The No. 16 wide receiver in the class of 2018, Moore will be a full-term high school student as Ft. Lauderdale’s St. Thomas Aquinas does not allow students to graduate early for athletic reasons.
