Georgia DT picks up Big 12 offer

Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern defensive tackle Etta-Etta Tawo has seen the offers come trickling in all summer long. He has yet to attend his first summer camp and was scheduled to do so this weekend.
“I was supposed to go to camp at Georgia this weekend, but I couldn’t make it,” Tawo said. “Georgia had been telling me that they really wanted me to come to this camp, but something came up and I just wasn’t able to make it.”

The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Tawo has picked up some impressive offers over the summer months. His newest offer may be the most impressive.
“I got an offer from Oklahoma in writing not too long ago,” he said. “I already had offers from Stanford, Auburn, Maryland, Duke, Kentucky, Memphis, Wake Forest and Clemson. Georgia still has not offered. I was hoping to go to their camp this weekend and earn one, but didn’t get to go.”
So where does he stand with the in-state Bulldogs on an offer?
“They had been telling me to come to camp and that we would see,” Tawo said. “They said they wanted to do more film evaluation and all of that. They have been sending me mail every two days. I think they are going to offer. I think coach Bobo is going to come and watch me play in the early part of the season.”
Tawo runs a 4.97 40-yard dash, has a 310-pound bench press and a 455-pound squat. As a junior he racked up 60 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and three sacks on his way to earning all-county and all-region honors.
“Right now my top six schools are Stanford, Georgia, Duke, Kentucky, Maryland and Oklahoma,” Tawo said. “I’m probably not going to be able to make any camps this summer because we have a weight training competition this week and then practice starts the next week.”
