Georgia DT heads South for college

Atlanta (Ga.) Douglass defensive lineman Rusel Phillips has decided to head south and play for Central Florida and coach George O’Leary.
“Rusel committed to Central Florida last week,” said Douglass head coach Gary Cantrell.

“He went down there on a visit and came back real impressed and said ‘Coach I want to play down there,’ said Cantrell. “I told him to make sure that’s what he wanted and he did, so he committed.”
Phillips, who is 6-foot-3, 250 pounds was named to All-City South 2nd team as a senior. As a junior he registered 64 tackles and 10 sacks.
“Rusel was the most dominant defensive lineman for us this year. If he was a little bigger he would have been a lot more heavily recruited,” said Cantrell.
