Mansfield Wrotto has added to his list of scholarship offers
in recent weeks and has a new leader.
Penn State, Ole Miss and Wake Forest have entered
the mix for the 6-foot-4, 310-pound Brookwood High School star, joining
previous offers from Georgia Tech, Maryland and Vanderbilt.
"At this moment, my top team is Penn State," said
Wrotto, a member of the Rivals.com
Georgia Top 50 team. "I've got
family in Pennsylvania, which is a big factor since it's kind of far away,
and I've really been impressed by everybody associated with the school. The
coaches have done a great job recruiting me, and I like the way the team is
playing this year."
Wrotto said he's in the process of scheduling an
official visit to State College. That will give him three with visits to
Maryland (likely late December) and Ole Miss (likely early January) in the
works.
"Georgia Tech and Wake Forest would probably be the
other two," he added.
Clemson, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee have also
been involved, but Wrotto said he's looking for a program that can suit his
academic needs (3.6 GPA, 1000 SAT) as well as give him an opportunity to
play early. The home state Bulldogs had once been a leader in his
recruitment, but have since dropped off the pace.
Through six games this season, Wrotto has helped
lead Brookwood to a 5-1 record and the No. 5 ranking in Class 5A. He's
recorded 30 tackles and three sacks.
