Chamblee (Ga.) defensive end/outside linebacker prospect Taylor Loftley holds an early scholarship offer from an Atlantic Coast Conference program and is getting interest from several others.
"Right now, I've got one offer from Duke," he said. "I got some interest in them. They've got a good school, a good atmosphere and right now I believe that their football program is on the rise."
One of the ACC's better recruiters, Blue Devils assistant coach Glenn Spencer, is Loftley's recruiter of record for Duke, which is recruiting him as a defensive end.
There are two primary aspects of a program that are going to be important for Loftley when he goes to make his final decision.
"I am looking at academics, if I get to play early and that's it," he said.
Georgia, Georgia Tech and Virginia also have expressed interest in the 6-foot-2, 250-pounder.
"I know they have a little interest in me," he said.
Loftley, who also could potentially play outside linebacker in college, talked about what makes him a certain Division I-A prospect.
"I have quickness, speed and I got good use of my hands," he said.
Loftley was an All-DeKalb County selection during his junior year. He had 97 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and seven sacks.
Loftley attended the Rivals.com Atlanta Junior Day on Saturday at Lovejoy High in Hampton, Ga.
