Georgia DB Watts commits to UCF

Dequanteous Watts is a defensive back out of Atlanta (Ga.) Maynard Jackson and he has committed to UCF.

Watts is a 6-foot-2, 175 pound senior with an impressive offer list so this is an impressive get for first year head coach Josh Heupel.

The Peach State prospect announced his decision today, but he has known in his mind that he wanted to be a Knight for some time.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

“I made up my mind in the summer during their camp,” said Watts. “The atmosphere was for me.

“The coaches, the players and the fan base were reasons I committed to UCF. The coaching staff really showed they want me there.

“The whole staff has been recruiting me. I’ve been talking to coach Heupel, coach Toth, coach Martinez and coach Bell. We communicate every single day. We Face Time every two days and we have a very strong relationship.

“I chose UCF over Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Indiana.

“Being committed feels great. It feels great knowing that the hard work I put in is paying off. I’ve put a lot of work to get where I’m at today and it feels like a dream come true.”

RIVALS REACTION

Watts is a cornerback with great length and some upside. He is thin, so he will fill out his frame on the next level and really improve his craft. He has good make up speed and he has a great radius with his arm length and size. This could be a steal for the Knights, but they will still have to work for this one. Watts plans to visit other schools, so this one is still not over just yet.
