Georgia DB Ronnie Hamrick commits to UCF
UCF landed its third commitment Tuesday, and on Wednesday Ronnie Hamrick made it public. The 6-foot, 175 pound cornerback out of Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview had a conversation with one of the Knights' coaches and that was all he needed.
"I decided it was UCF when I was on the phone with the corner coach Corey Bell Tuesday," said Hamrick. "The biggest reasons why I picked UCF was because it is close to home, the coaching staff makes me feel at home, it’s not a cold area, and they gave me a great opportunity to excel as a player and a person."
Hamrick said he chose the Knights over Iowa State and Kansas.
The three-star has yet to visit the UCF campus, but the communication has been strong and he feels strong about his decision.
"They’ve been recruiting me since January. 6. I have been leaning towards UCF since the virus broke out because they've talking to me heavily.
"They said that I could come in and play right away and have a good chance to start. I haven’t visited them yet but I know the area real good."
Hamrick made it official Tuesday morning. He let Josh Heupel and the staff know of his decision.
"I told the coaches Tuesday morning after I got off the phone with coach Bell," said Hamrick. "Their reaction was one to remember; they got so happy and when I mean happy, the head coach FaceTimed me and had a huge smile on his face!"
