Arkansas has worked hard to spread its recruiting footprint over the past few years and those efforts are starting to pay dividends. On Friday, the Hawgs added a commitment from Decatur (Ga.) Cedar Grove defensive back Korey Hernandez. The versatile defensive back visited without visiting Fayetteville, but said he knew the time was right.

"I felt like it's the perfect fit for me," Hernandez said. "The coaches have all been great. From Coach Bielema on down. They really believe in me. From the first time they saw me, through the process you meet so many different coaches and they show different interest levels, but Arkansas has always been there and been consistent."

Hernandez is ranked as a three-star safety, but said the Arkansas staff likes him for his ability to translate to multiple positions.

"I'm versatile, I can play both corner and safety and I'm an overall good football player," Hernandez said. "They want me to play corner and be aggressive and that's what I'm best at."

Over the past few months Hernandez has collected offers from several programs, including Southern Miss and South Florida. But he said the chance to play in the SEC was too must to pass up.

"I always knew that I was an SEC type player so when the opportunity came up it was automatic," Hernandez said. "It wasn't something I was scared of, I knew I could do it. As you see now I'm in a position to play in the SEC and I've always believed in myself."

While he hasn't visited campus yet, Hernandez said he's comfortable and planning on making the trip net month.

"I'm going on the 21st of July," Hernandez said. "I've seen pictures and they've told me a lot about it so I'm not worried about anything. I know I'm going to get there a couple of times before Signing Day."

Before announcing his decision via Twitter, Hernandez called the Arkansas staff and he said they were thrilled to receive the word.

"They were excited," Hernandez said. "They told me I was a hidden jewel so they already know what's up."

Hernandez is commit No. 15 for Arkansas in the Class of 2017.
